Abstract: This research investigates how increasing urbanization influences local climate patterns, particularly rising temperature trends in rapidly developing cities. Using VIIRS Nighttime Light intensity as a proxy for urban growth, the study integrates satellite-derived artificial light emissions with historical temperature data to analyze the relationship between urban expansion and climate change. Machine learning models were developed to quantify the association between urbanization intensity and temperature variation, demonstrating how sustained growth in artificial light emissions correlates with warming trends. The study provides a data-driven perspective on urban heat dynamics and highlights the growing climate implications of rapid urban development.
